Once he’s done with Coming To America 2, Eddie Murphy will be making the long-mooted Beverly Hills Cop 4.

Over the past decade or so, there have neen quite a few stop-starts where Beverly Hills Cop 4 is concerned. The movie has been on star Eddie Murphy’s docket, and scripts have been written with a view of taking the project forward. Heck, for some time, Brett Ratner was attached to direct, although he’s clearly long off the project.

Still, with Murphy currently making a sequel to Coming To America, he’s clearly in the mood to revisit some of his old hits. And in a chat with Collider, he’s confirmed that the Beverly Hills Cop sequel is back on.

What’s more, it’s set to be his next film once Coming To America 2 is wrapped up. “We’re doing Beverly Hills Cop and then the plan is to get back on stage and do stand-up. What I’ll be doing mostly is stand-up. These movies and Saturday Night Live”, he confirmed, describing it all as “a bookend” to his work.

Which all suggests that the film is likely to go before the cameras next year, and that in turn means the earliest we’ll get to see it is 2021. We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
