Enola Holmes to hit Netflix in September: first trailer

Sherlock Holmes’ rebel sister will debut on Netflix next month, with Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown starring in the title role of Enola Holmes.

Netflix has announced that its upcoming Enola Holmes adaptation will be launching on the 23rd of September.

The film, which follows the great Sherlock Holmes’ rebellious teenage sister, Enola, on a series of adventures, has been adapted from Nancy Springer’s popular series of books. Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown stars as the title character whilst Henry Cavill should make a fun choice as Sherlock Holmes. Sam Claflin, Helena Bonham Carter and Fiona Shaw also appear.

Whether this means that the rather ridiculous lawsuit brought against the film by the Conan Doyle Estate back in June has been dealt with is, as yet, unclear.

The company in question reportedly attempted to argue that the depiction of Holmes that will appear in the upcoming film was based solely on Conan Doyle’s final ten books (which remain under copyright) and therefore infringed upon the estate’s rights. The way in which Holmes is presented in the film remains to be seen, but we’ve got a feeling that the Conan Doyle Estate might be fighting a losing battle with this one, if it hasn’t been sorted out already. That said, we can’t afford expensive lawyers, so we remain steadfastly neutral.

Here’s the trailer for the film, to give you a fuller idea what to expect…
