Titan Books are releasing Escape From New York: The Official Story Of The Film companion book.

Titan Books will be releasing John Walsh’s book Escape From New York: The Official Story Of The Film. The book will detail the production of the film with new interviews with the cast and crew!

Directed by John Carpenter, Escape From New York became a cult classic after its 1981 release inspiring a generation of new directors with its sci-fi tones. J. J. Abrams has cited Carpenter’s work on the film as a key inspiration for some of his work on Cloverfield.

Set in a future dystopian 1997, ‘when the U.S. president crashes into Manhattan, now a giant maximum-security prison, a convicted bank robber is sent in to rescue him.’ The film starred Kurt Russell in the lead role as Snake Plissken in a very dashing eye patch, hoping to receive a presidential pardon for rescuing the president.

It’s been 30 years since the film’s release and it remains influential even now, so Walsh’s new book is sure to be on many must-read lists this autumn.

If you’re jonesing for a fix of the film in the meantime, it’s not included in any current streaming packages but it is available to rent and there’s a pretty sweet looking two-disc Blu-ray set available to buy, it was released back in 2018.

You’ll be able to purchase Escape From New York: The Official Story Of The Film on the 28th of September.
