The hit stage musical heads to the big screen: here’s the first trailer for the movie of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.

We’re looking forward to this one. The big screen adaptation of the hit musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie – which in turn was inspired by a BBC documentary series – is now set to arrive in cinemas early next year (one of the many movies delayed from 2020).

The adaptation stars Max Harwood, Sarah Lancashire, Lauren Patel, Ralph Ineson, Adeel Akhtar and Richard E Grant. What’s more, it’s kept key personnel from the stage show as well, with Tom MacRae writing the script and Jonathan Butterell directing the movie.

And we have a trailer! He’s a glimpse at how the film is shaping up…

For now, we’ll leave you with the movie’s synopsis…

Inspired by true events, New Regency’s and Film4’s “Everybody’s Talking About Jamie” is the film adaptation of the hit musical. Jamie New is 16 and doesn’t quite fit in—instead of pursuing a “real” career he dreams of becoming a drag queen. Uncertain about his future, Jamie knows one thing for sure: he is going to be a sensation. Supported by his loving mom and his amazing friends, Jamie overcomes prejudice, beats the bullies and steps out of the darkness, into the spotlight.

The movie is set for release on February 26th 2021. More as we hear it…
