Amazon Prime Video UK confirmed it has acquired the exclusive rights to Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.

In what some are describing as a disappointing turn of events, Amazon Prime Video UK has today confirmed that Everybody’s Talking About Jamie will be streaming exclusively on their platform when it is released in the UK on the 17th September.

The move to push Jamie to streaming after holding it for almost a year is unexpected. The film was pulled from schedules after multiple rescheduled release dates. When it’s original date 23rd October 2020 looked unlikely, 20th Century Studios moved the film to 22nd January, then February. The acquisition by Amazon is strange, not only considering 20th Century is owned by Disney who have their own streaming platform, but also the fact that cinemas are now reopening across the world with numerous high profile films scheduled across the summer and in to the Autumn.

One positive may be that this very personal and special tale gets seen by a wider audience due to this release strategy, but fans of the stage show and musicals are understandably disappointed that they will no longer be able to celebrate the film and it’s message on the big screen.

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie will be release on Amazon Prime on the 17th September.
