The brief internal logline that’s been used within Sony to describe the new Ghostbusters film.

Earlier this week, we reported – having heard from our own source too – that the title of next year’s new Ghostbusters film is now likely to be Ghostbusters: Afterlife. We’ve now heard from our same source the logline that Sony has been using to describe the film. We should be clear, this isn’t an official synopsis, but it is a strong hint as to the direction the film is going in.

The movie, incidentally, stars Paul Rudd, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver, Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts, amongst others. Jason Reitman is directing, his father having helmed the first two films in the series.

This fourth film is said to be a direct follow-on to Ghostbusters 2, and this is the working description:

The next chapter in the original franchise follows four teens as a family moves back home to a small town where they learn more about who they are.

We’ve been told one or two other details too, but are holding them back lest they be spoilers.

Make of that what you will.  A trailer is expected this side of Christmas, and we’ll bring you that when we have it.

The film is in cinemas next July.
