Fantastic Beasts 3: new writer, spring 2020 production confirmed

Fantastic Beasts 3 will be heading to Brazil, and filming starts next April.

The Fantastic Beasts series of Harry Potter spin-off movies hasn’t had the best of starts, all considering. The first movie of the five film franchise did very good business, but with the second, The Crimes Of Grindelwald, the box office was down and fans seemed a lot less impressed.

Warner Bros thus added an extra year before movies before the third film in the series, giving three years for Fantastic Beasts 3 – as it won’t be called – to come together.

Now we learn that there’s been an injection of fresh help on the writing side too. J K Rowling penned the scripts for the first two films, and she’s now been joined by Harry Potter movie scribe Steve Kloves for the third. Furthermore, this third film in the series will in part at least be set in Brazil.

Furthermore, Warner Bros is now set to commence production on the movie in April of 2020, ahead of its November 2021 release date. Not much more is known about it beyond that, but there’s a hope that – with two movies to go beyond this one at least – a course correction of sorts is in order.

More as we hear it.
