Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets Of Dumbledore will be the third Fantastic Beasts film, and it’s set for release at Easter 2022.

I’m not privy to the financials behind the Fantastic Beasts series of spin-off movies, but two movies into the Harry Potter spin-offs and I don’t think they’ve really caught fire yet. The second film in particular felt a bit of a trudge to me, and the box office – whilst significant – hasn’t hit Potter heights.

Even without a pandemic to work around then, the pressure was on Fantastic Beasts 3. It’d be fair to say it’s being released into a different ecosystem than the first two films, in more than one sense. It feels more of a split fanbase than it was before too.

Against this, Warner Bros has announced a final release date for the third movie, that’s now called Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets Of Dumbledore. It’ll be in cinemas on April 15th 2022, and that’s all we’re getting for the minute.

J K Rowling has penned the script and David Yates is directing. Jude Law, Mads Mikkelsen, Ezra Miller and Eddie Radmayne lead the ensemble. More as we hear it…
