Acclaimed drama The Surrogate is heading to the UK, off the back of its acclaim at the SXSW festival earlier this year.

Studio Soho Distribution has announced the UK release date for a film that picked up very welcome reviews at this year’s SXSW Film Festival. The movie in question is The Surrogate, written and directed by Jeremy Hersh.

The film tells the story of a couple – Josh (Chris Perfetti) and Aaron (Sullivan Jones) – who want a surrogate and egg donor so they can have a baby. Enter Josh’s friends Jess (played by Jasmine Batchelor), and she’s soon pregnant with their child. Things are all going to plan until the 12 week scan, and that’s as much of the plot as we’re talking about here.

The film has been scheduled for release on Friday July 9th, and it’s going to be getting an outing in UK cinemas. Described as an honest and heartfelt drama,  we look forward to seeing it.
