A new feature documentary tells the story of how Fiddler On The Roof came to be.

Heading into UK cinemas next month is a film by the name of Fiddler: A Miracle Of Miracles. And as its title hints, it’s going to be telling the story behind the much-loved 1964 movie musical, Fiddler On The Roof.

The documentary is directed by Max Lewkowicz, and has been written and produced by Max Lewkowicz and Valerie Thomas.

Amongst the interviewees for the film are lyricist Sheldon Harnick (who, at 95-years young, was reportedly the impetus for the film being made), Hal Prince, Austin Pendleton, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Joel Grey, Chaim Topol, Harvey Fierstein, Fran Lebowitz, Calvin Trillin and Nathan Englander.

The documentary eschews the idea of using a narrator, with instead the story being woven together through interviews. And it’s been scheduled for a cinema release on December 13th 2019.
