The very first big screen appearance of Sylvester Stallone as John Rambo is heading back to cinemas next month.

The debut appearance of John Rambo on the big screen is returning to cinemas this June. One of Sylvester Stallone’s two iconic characters, Rambo made his first appearance in the superb First Blood, that was released all the way back in 1982. And whilst sequels eventually went more jingoistic and cartoony – hello, Rambo III – the original is quite a dark and tormented movie.

It’s also a really good one. Directed by Ted Kotcheff, it’s going to be getting a full UK cinema re-release on June 24th – just over a month away – courtesy of the folks at Park Circus.

It’s currently set to release on over 100 screens around the country, and pre-booking is expected to open shortly. Genuinely: if all you’ve seen is one or all of the Rambo sequels and never the original, this is a chance to check it out that’s worth seeking. Skip the last movie though if it inspires you to do a full watch of the series…
