The sequel to the 2019 feel-good phenomenon, Fisherman’s Friends 2 has started production.

As the world continues to open back up and we get closer to cinemas re-opening their doors, we’re seeing film production also ramp back up. Another newly announced sequel? Fisherman’s Friends 2, the sequel to UK box-office smash hit Fisherman’s Friends based on the heartwarming true story about the sea-shanty singing group.

Flying Fish and Entertainment Film Distributors announced that principal photography for the sequel had started on the 15th April in Cornwall. Reuniting the original film’s creative team, Meg Leonard and Nick Moorcroft co-direct from their screenplay co-written with Piers Ashworth. Fisherman’s Friends 2 continues the journey with the loveable ‘buoy band’, as they navigate the choppy waters of fame, second album syndrome, and performing on the pyramid stage at Glastonbury.

What we know about the plot ‘The sequel to the 2019 hit UK comedy charts the next instalment of the Fisherman’s Friends uplifting true-story. Following the unexpected success of the band’s debut album “No Hopers, Jokers and Rogues” we re-join them almost a year later, struggling with the pressures, pitfalls and temptations of their newfound fame.’

James Purefoy (Rome, Netflix’s Altered Carbon) reprises his role of Jim, with other returning cast members including Maggie Steed (Elizabeth is Missing), Dave Johns (I, Daniel Blake), Sam Swainsbury (BBC’s Mum), Jade Anouka (His Dark Materials) and David Hayman (Finding Your Feet). New faces in Port Isaac include Richard Harrington (Netflix’s Hinterland) as latest band member Morgan; Ramon Tikaram (Pennyworth), Joshua Maguire (Netflix’s Lovesick) and introducing Irish singer-songwriter Imelda May, in her debut acting role.
