Fletch reboot finally happening, Jon Hamm to star

Jon Hamm will follow in the footsteps of Chevy Chase on the big screen, as he signs up to take on the role of Fletch.

Hollywood has, for well over a decade, been trying to reboot the Fletch films, that in turn were originally based on the books by Gregory McDonald. In the 1980s Chevy Chase enjoyed success in the title role with Fletch, and less so with its sequel Fletch Lives. That notwithstanding, the investigative reporter is very much back on the radar with the news that Miramax has finally got a new movie off the ground.

It’s hired Jon Hamm to take on the title role, and he’ll be producing the film as well alongside Connie Tavel. Furthermore, a director has been secured too with Greg Mottola (Superbad, Paul, Adventureland) on board the project. Furthermore, Zev Borrow is penning the screenplay.

The basis of the film will be the second book in the Fletch series, Confess Fletch. That’ll put Hamm in the middle of multiple murders, in which he becomes the top suspect. Plus, there’s a missing art collection in there too for him to contend with.

No word yet on when filming will become, and as such, when we can expect to see the movie. As we hear more, we’ll let you know…
