2021 could be a very busy summer for cinemas if everything goes to plan, with Sony delaying the new Ghostbusters film to join the crowded pack.
Sony has shuffled its pack once more, setting dates for a couple of its upcoming films in the light of continued cinema closures.
Firstly, Ghostbusters: Afterlife has a newly-rescheduled release date of June 11th, 2021. This follows the film’s move from July of this year to March 2021. This further pushback currently gives the film a release date all to itself, although should cinemas be fully reopened by next summer, an increasingly crowded blockbuster schedule could change that.
The Hollywood Reporter is also stating that Sony have announced a release date for the sequel to Don’t Breathe, the 2016 thriller that proved to be a sizeable profit-maker for both Sony and Screen Gems. With the film making an estimated $158 million from a production budget of less than $10 million, a sequel was quickly announced in the months following the first film’s release. It now has its release date of August 21st, 2021.
More news on rescheduled release dates as we have them.
