George Clooney’s latest film as director, The Boys In The Boat, is shooting at a new film production studio in the UK: more on the project here.

A project that he’s been dabbling with for a little while now, George Clooney has now headed to the UK to start directing his latest feature. It’s The Boys In The Boat, based on the book by Daniel James Brown. Adapted by Jon Hartmere and Mark L Smith, it’s the real life 1930s story of a rowing team from the University of Washington who, in depression-era America, headed to the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin.

Clooney has cast Joel Edgerton, Hadley Robinson and Callum Turner in the film, and it begins shooting this very week. The base of filming is Berkshire’s Winnersh Film Studios, a new facility that has only just officially opened its doors. To our knowledge, this will be the first movie to shoot at Winnersh.

MGM is the studio behind this, which means in turn that Amazon’s bank balance is helping pay off the coffee bill for the production. No word yet on a release date, but we’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
