Gerard Butler and Ric Roman Waugh are heading to Saudi Arabia to film their next movie, Kandahar – more details right here.

Following their previous collaborations on the terrific Greenland and the really rather good Angel Has Fallen, Gerard Butler and director Ric Roman Waugh are coming together for another project.

This time it’s an action thriller by the name of Kandahar, that first came to light last summer. Penned by Ric Roman Waugh with Mitchell LaFortune, it sees The Butler as an undercover CIA agent at work in the Middle East. But – what’s this? His cover is blown, and he’s stuck in the middle of dangerous territory, where his enemies around him now know who he is?

Only one thing for it: battle his way out, get to the extraction point, and avoid the heavily trained special forces team trying to kill him.

The film will be shooting in Saudi Arabia later this year, with MBC Studios now stepping aboard to put a chunk of the money in.

We’d expect the film to arrive in 2022, but no release date has thus far been announced. We’ll keep you posted as we hear more, though…
