Gerard Butler is set to successfully land a troubled plane, and find himself in more trouble.

Busy man, Gerard Butler. After enjoying box office success this year with Angel Has Fallen, next up is the sequel to the really rather good Den Of Thieves. That’s due in cinemas in 2021, and he might just have time to slip in another project before then.

For Butler has signed up for a new hostage thriller that goes by the name of The Plane. It’s due to shoot next year, and Butler will play the lead role of a pilot by the name of Ray who manages to land his commercial airliner in the midst of an emergency.

But – what’s this? He’s only gone and landed it in the middle of a war zone, where competing factions are battling, and looking to take the plane and all of its passengers hostage? Well crikey.

The film is based on the novel by Charles Cumming, and he’s co-penning the script with J P Davis. No word yet on who will direct, but we do know that Lorenzo di Bonaventura is overseeing as producer.

Honestly? Looking forward to this one already. We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
