The director of Green Lantern has no plans to go back to the film, or any other movie of its ilk.

As part of his promotional work for his new movie The Protégé, director Martin Campbell has been giving hints as to some of the battles he fought on his sole comic book movie, the pretty infamous Green Lantern.

The film, starring Ryan Reynolds, was a costly misfire for Warner Bros, and Reynolds has earned good currency from lampooning it in recent times. But Campbell has now been addressing, briefly, some of the problems in a Reddit AMA session.

He was asked, for instance, what the worst fight he’d ever been in was. And whilst he doesn’t go into detail, he openly says “with the Warner executives, over Green Lantern”.

When asked what other genres of film he’d like to tackle, Campbell admits he fancies making a comedy. But as for a Marvel film? “Forget it. I [“trucked” – Ed] it up once, never again”. Finally, as for if he’d do a Green Lantern 2? “Over my dead body”, he replied. Those were the only mentions the film got from Campbell in the extensive session.

The full AMA is here. There’s still a lot more of this story to tell, it seems…
