A sequel to 1993’s much-loved Hocus Pocus is on its way, with a fun ensemble cast and a teaser trailer to herald its arrival.

Having just enjoyed a spooky October 31st, the timing is perfect to remind us that witches are for life, not just for Halloween, with the casting announcements for Disney’s Hocus Pocus 2. Not to mention a short teaser trailer to accompany the announcement.

The original trio of Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy will all be returning as the Sanderson Sisters, this time alongside an impressive ensemble that includes Whitney Peak, Lilia Buckingham, Belissa Escobedo, Tony Hale, Hannah Waddingham, Juju Brener, Froy Guiterrez, Taylor Henderson, and Nina Kitchen. Regular Guillermo del Toro collaborator and monster actor extraordinaire Doug Jones will also feature.

The film will be directed by Anne Fletcher, whose last movie was Dumplin’, the Texan beauty pageant movie that featured music from Dolly Parton.

Hocus Pocus 2 will focus on ‘three young women who accidentally bring back the Sanderson Sisters to modern day Salem and must figure out how to stop the child-hungry witches from wreaking havoc on the world.’

The belated sequel is set to launch next autumn, most likely in time for Halloween, on Disney+. You can catch the teaser trailer below (although not a lot happens).
