Kid and Play will return? It certainly seems so, with plans afoot for a new entry in the House Party series of movies.

If you’re of a certain vintage, you’ll definitely remember 1990’s House Party, a classic teen comedy that found itself on heavy VHS rotation in any number of teenager’s houses. The misadventures of the film’s two heroes, Kid and Play, were eminently quotable  and two less successful sequels would follow, as well as a spate of copycat hairstyles.

We’ve known for a while that LeBron James, basketball icon and Oscar-winning filmmaker, has been looking to develop a remake of House Party. Now it seems that the project has taken a step closer to reality, with the news that the film has entered active development, with a named director and actors on the verge of signing up for the film.

It’s looking like  Jorge Lendeborg Jr. (Spider-Man: Homecoming, Bumblebee) and Tosin Cole (Doctor Who) will be taking on the roles of Kid and Play, whilst the film will be directed by the acclaimed music video director, Calmatic.

With casting for the film’s female roles to follow, and the project’s producers already promising some major cameos, this could certainly be a whole lot of fun. We’ll let you know as we hear more.
