The film of Caitlin Moran’s How To Build A Girl is bypassing cinemas in the UK and heading to Amazon Prime Video instead.

It may be one of the final casualties of the current cinema lockdown, as plans to cinematically release the film of Caitlin Moran’s bestseller How To Build A Girl have been changed.

The movie was due out in cinemas at the start of July, but Lionsgate has now done a deal with Amazon Prime Video to send the movie to its streaming service instead.

The film will thus debut on the service in the UK from Friday 24th July. Moran has adapted the book for the screen herself, with Coky Giedroyc directing and Beanie Feldstein in the lead role.

Here’s the trailer…

And we’ll leave you with the synopsis…

It’s 1993, and there’s only one way for a curvy, bright, funny, working-class sixteen year old (Beanie Feldstein) to break out of her tiny, crowded house in Wolverhampton, and go on the somehow noble sex-quest she desires – to reinvent herself as swashbuckling, top-hat-wearing rock critic Dolly Wilde, and explode all over London. The only question is – was Dolly Wilde the right girl to build?
