The film of Caitlin Moran’s hit book How To Build A Girl is heading into cinemas in July.

One of the most eagerly-awaited British films of the year is the big screen adaptation of Caitlin Moran’s hit novel. How To Build A Girl. The movie debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival last autumn, and is still making a few stops on the festival circuit. And now we know when it’s getting its wide release in cinemas.

Lionsgate has now announced that the movie will be released in the UK on July 3rd 2020.

The film has been directed by Coky Giedroyc, and Moran has penned the screenplay herself. Leading the cast are Beanie Feldstein, Alfie Allen, Paddy Considine, Emma Thompson, Sarah Solemani and Joanna Scanlan.

Expect a trailer in due course. For now, though, the official synopsis reads as follows…

It’s 1993, and there’s only one way for a fat, bright, funny, working-class sixteen year old
(Beanie Feldstein) to break out of her tiny, crowded house in Wolverhampton, and go on the somehow noble sex-quest she desires – to reinvent herself as swashbuckling, top-hat-wearing rock critic Dolly Wilde, and explode all over London. The only question is – was Dolly Wilde the right girl to build?

More on the movie as we hear it.
