The story of Zlatan Ibrahimovic is heading to the screen, with a June release in the UK: here’s the trailer for the incoming movie.

Contrary to the current trend for documentaries about sporting stars past and present – just the week we got word of Tosh – the upcoming I Am Zlatan is doing things the old fashioned way.

It’s instead going to be a movie dramatization of football star Zlatan Ibrahimovic, that’s using his autobiography as a starting point. Adapted for the screen by Jakob Beckman and David Lagercrantz, the film has cast Granit Rushiti as Ibrahimovic, and we’re promised an ‘entertaining rags to riches biopic’ of the star.

The film has already been released in Sweden, where it shot to the top of the box office charts. Here in the UK, it’s heading to cinemas and digital platforms from June 17th, and then a DVD release is planned on June 27th.

More closer to the release of the film. In the meantime, here’s the trailer for the film…
