Indiana Jones 5 will see Phoebe Waller-Bridge joining Harrison Ford on his latest adventure, it’s been revealed.

Harrison Ford is going to have fresh company as he retires the character of Indiana Jones, with the news that the mighty Phoebe Waller-Bridge is signing up to co-star in the new movie.

Indiana Jones 5, as it won’t be called, is set to start filming later this year, with a summer 2022 release planned. And news has now broken that Waller-Bridge will take the co-starring role. It’s the first new piece of casting news for the movie outside of Ford returning, and suggests – significantly – that the film might finally be happening.

Steven Spielberg has passed on the director’s chair for Indy 5 to James Mangold, as had been previously announced. More casting is due to be announced soon. Don’t expect any reveal as to the nature of Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s character in the movie though. The Indy team is notable for its secrecy.

More as we hear it. the film arrives in July 2022.

UPDATE: John Williams has also been confirmed to score the film. Hurray!
