Who Pressed Mute On Uncle Marcus is a hybrid of video game and film – players interact with the characters to solve an attempted murder.

A new interactive video game from Wales Interactive combines film and gaming in whodunnit Who Pressed Mute On Uncle Marcus. When Uncle Marcus (played by Jurassic World‘s Andy Buckley) is poisoned at an annual family quiz, he enlists the helps of main character Abby to figure out who the culprit is. The player plays as Abby, and must interact with the other characters against the clock and spot clues to solve the mystery.

The game makes use of full motion video, where scenes are recorded with real actors. The cast includes Once Upon A Time‘s Robbie Kay, Susannah Doyle (who’s been in Black Mirror), and Abigail Hardingham (from The Missing). Capitalising on the recent success of crime mysteries like Rian Johnson’s Knives Out, the game takes the Agatha Christie mystery formula and actively involves the player. Their choices will also influence the game’s ending, which will depend on the clues they pick up on.

Who Pressed Mute On Uncle Marcus is releasing on all major gaming platforms (including mobile) on the 18th March. For those of you who love their murder mysteries, it’s available to pre-order from 4th March.
