Respect tells the life story of Aretha Franklin, and here’s the first teaser trailer.

The next big music biopic heading towards the big screen is the life story of Aretha Franklin. It’s going to be told in a movie by the name of Respect, with the terrific Jennifer Hudson playing the muslc superstar.

Also in the ensemble for this one are Forest Whitaker, Marlon Wayans, Audra McDonald, Marc Maron, Tituss Burgess, Saycon Sengbloh, Hailey Kilgore, Tate Donovan, Heather Headley, Skye Dakota Turner, and Mary J. Blige. Liesl Tommy is directing the film, working from a screenplay by Tracey Scott Wilson.

We don’t yet have a firm release date for the film, just that it’s coming in 2020. What we do have though is the first teaser trailer, and it looks like this…
