Jerry Seinfeld’s directorial debut confirms cast

Jerry Seinfeld has gathered a star cast, including Hugh Grant, Melissa McCarthy and Amy Schumer.

Jerry Seinfeld, star of one of the most successful sitcoms of all time, is making his directorial debut with a film about a sweet treat.

Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story will tell the story of how the breakfast snack came to be. The official logline reads “Kellogg’s and Post, sworn cereal rivals, race to create a pastry that will change the face of breakfast forever. A tale of ambition, betrayal, sugar and menacing milkmen”.

Seinfeld will star in the film, along with a cast with considerable comedic chops – Melissa McCarthy, Jim Gaffigan, Amy Schumer, Hugh Grant and James Marsden. Rounding out the ensemble is Jack McBrayer, Tom Lennon, Adrian Martinez, Bobby Moynihan, Max Greenfield, Christian Slater and Sarah Cooper.

As well as directing and starring, Seinfeld also co-wrote the script with Spike Feresten, Andy Robin and Barry Marder.

A release date has not yet been announced.
