Riz Ahmed and Jessie Buckley line up for a new sci-fi movie, that appears to come with a very special love test.
Two of Britain’s premier movie actors are coming together on a brand new project. Oscar-nominee Jessie Buckley and Oscar winner Riz Ahmed are leading the cast of Fingernails, a new movie that’s coming from director Christos Nikou.
Nikou previously directed Apples, and this marks their English language directing debut. The film has been penned by Nikou, Sam Steiner and Stavros Raptis.
The movie itself is a science fiction love story, set in a world where a test has been devised to ascertain whether a couple are actually in love or not. Buckley plays a character unsure of her result, whilst Ahmed is an instructor working at a special love institute.
The film is selling at the Cannes Film Festival in the next week or two, with Cate Blanchett’s production company amongst the parties involved. No word yet on when production will begin, but we’ll keep you posted. Don’t expect a release until next year at the earliest, though.
