Joanna Hogg’s The Eternal Daughter has been picked up for a UK release by BFI Distribution, following its festival debut last year.

Joanna Hogg has an impressive filmography, not least because The Souvenir pipped Parasite to the post and nabbed the top spot in Sight and Sound’s Best Films of 2019 list. The sequel topped the same list in 2021.

Her next film is The Eternal Daughter, which tells the story of an artist and her elderly mother as they return to a former family home, now a hotel, haunted by its mysterious past.

Tilda Swinton plays both roles in the film, alongside Joseph Mydell and Carly Sophia-Davies. Martin Scorsese is among the executive producers.

The Eternal Daughter will be released in cinemas in the latter half of 2023, we’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
