Knives Out 2 is in post-production, and Netflix is now said to be targeting a release for the Daniel Craig-headlined sequel in late 2022.

It’s been known for a while that after Lionsgate backed the first film that Netflix swooped in to pick up two sequels to the terrific whodunnit Knives Out. Rian Johnson is writing and directing again, with two new cases for Daniel Craig’s private detective Benoit Blanc. The first of the two new movies finished shooting last autumn, but Netflix has been coy on release plans for whatever Knives Out 2 ends up being called.

Now though, we have a clearly idea. It seems as though the streamer is going to be holding the movie back to the end of the year, positioning it as a release in the last quarter of 2022. Thus, sometime after October 1st. Given that it’s going to be one of Netflix’s biggest blockbuster releases of 2022, it seems likely it’ll take a prime November or December slot, a la Red Notice or Don’t Look Up last year.

Furthermore, Netflix will be giving the film a theatrical release too, although that’s likely to follow the pattern of a limited play for a couple of weeks before the streaming debut for the movie. That’s as much because major chains are still reluctant to play Netflix films though, an approach that’s likely to hold throughout 2022.
