Lionsgate confirms that it’s greenlighting a sequel to Knives Out.

It’s been a success at the box office, it’s been a hit with critics, and it’s Oscar nominated too. It’d be fair to say that Rian Johnson’s Knives Out has proven to be a rather successful project.

He hinted around the time of the film’s release that he’d like to make another film too and there had been chatter about a potential franchise. Not least because lots of us want to see Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc return to solve more cases.

And as it turns out, we’re getting our wish. Lionsgate has confirmed that Knives Out 2 is a go, and it looks like it’s going to be heading into production this year. Johnson once again is set to write and direct.

Johnson has hinted too at more than one sequel and it does all throw into question the trilogy of Star Wars movies that it was announced he’d be putting together too. But we wait and see whether those will pan out or not.

For now, Knives Out 2 is looking like his next project, and when we get a release date, we’ll let you know.
