J C Chandor is set to direct a Spider-Man spin-off movie, as the Kraven The Hunter project starts to move forward again at Sony.

Sony Pictures look to be accelerating its run of Marvel projects, as it continues to explore assorted Spider-Man characters for spin-off movies.

Already pretty much in the can is Venom 2, for instance, as well as the Morbius film, and both of those are due for release next week. What’s more, earlier this week came the news that Olivia Wilde is set to direct a Sony-Marvel project, that might just be the long-mooted Black Cat film.

Now, the studio has scored another coup by attracting another terrific director to one of its comic book projects. J C Chandor, who has helmed the likes of All Is Lost and A Most Violent Year is in talks with Sony about directing the film of Kraven The Hunter. The Spider-Man villain has been rumoured for a movie for a while now, and Richard Wenk (The Equaliser) is hard at work in the screenplay.

No casting news has been announced as of yet, just the report that Chandor is circling the project. As such, don’t expect this one to go before the cameras for a little while yet. Still, as we hear more, we’ll let you know.
