Laddie documentary finally gets UK release

The terrific documentary Laddie: The Man Behind The Movies gets a UK release later this month – and here’s the trailer for it.

Here’s a documentary that I backed on Kickstarter when it first popped up, and reviewed a year or two back in the magazine. It’s Laddie, a film that tells the story of late producer and former 20th Century Fox chair Alan Ladd Jr.

He’s the man who famously gave the greenlight to a string of movies such as Alien, Police Academy, Blade Runner and a small movie called Star Wars.

His story has been told in the film by his daughter, Amanda Ladd-Jones, who’s put together and directed Laddie: The Man Behind The Movies. She’s also brought together an impressive collection of talking heads for the film too, including the likes of Mel Brooks, George Lucas, Ron Howard, Ridley Scott, Ben Affleck, Lucy Fisher and Sigourney Weaver.

The film is set for release in the UK on 26th April, when it’ll appear on the usual collection of digital rental platforms. It’s well worth seeking out too if you like behind the scenes movie stuff, and the trailer for the movie is right here. We’ll leave you with that…
