The team behind the Spitfire movie documentary are returning to tell the story on screen on the Lancaster bomber.

The well-received documentary feature Spitfire told the story of the planes and the crews that flew them. It was released in 2018, and the directors of the film – David Fairhead and Ant Palmer – have now turned their attention to another famous plane from World War II: the Lancaster.

They’ve put together a brand new film about it, telling the story of the Lancaster bomber, a plane notable for the Dambusters raid, and for its night raids on Nazi Germany too.

We’re awaiting fuller details on the release, but we do now know that the film will be getting a release on DVD and Blu-ray from May 9th 2022. Spitfire also got a one day cinema release, and we’ll let you know if Lancaster will be enjoying one too.

For now, you can preorder the film here.
