Benedict Cumberbatch and Laura Dern have been cast in Macbeth director Justin Kurzel’s new sci-fi drama Morning.

Acting powerhouses Benedict Cumberbatch (who recently starred in Spider-Man: No Way Home and The Power Of The Dog) and Laura Dern (Marriage Story, Big Little Lies) have been cast in Morning, a sci-fi drama from director Justin Kurzel. A Quiet Place star Noah Jupe will co-star in the film, Deadline reports.

Morning is set in the near future, where a pill has been developed that removes the need for sleep. There is also an artificial sun that produces constant daylight, meaning that day-to-day life, and work, continues with no need for any break at all. Hellish stuff. Hope comes in the form of the younger generations, who have never known a life outside of this system. They consider rebelling to reclaim their dreams.

Kurzel is know for directing Macbeth and Assassin’s Creed, both starring Michael Fassbender. His most recent feature, Nitram, contended at Cannes Film Festival. The screenplay for Morning was penned by Sam Steiner, a Manchester-born writer. Cumberbatch’s production company, SunnyMarch, is producing, and both Cumberbatch and Dern will executive produce (the latter through her company, JayWalker Pictures).
