Reese Witherspoon is set to reprise the role of Elle Woods for Legally Blonde 3, and new writers have been hired for the planned sequel.
Having originally been given a release date of this very summer, it seemed pretty clear that plans for a third Legally Blonde film had hit delays even before the lockdown we’re in the midst of got underway. There was no sign of filming beginning, and whilst the plan remained to come back to the franchise – with Reese Witherspoon reprising her much-loved role as Elle Woods – there was little sign of progress.
But now there is.
Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor have boarded the project as its new writers, taking a different approach to the previously penned screenplay by Kirsten Smith and Karen McCullah. It sounds like this may be a page one rewrite for the film, which still seems some way away from making it to the screen.
There’s still no word as of yet as to who’s going to be directing the movie, just the fact that it’s clearly still an active project. It just happens to be an active project that’s going to take a little while longer than planned.
More on the movie as we hear it.
