Richard Donner, Mel Gibson and Danny Glover look set to make one final Lethal Weapon film.

Well, we’d written this one off in truth, but it seems like the long-in-gestation attempt to make one final Lethal Weapon movie is back on.

Producer Dan Lin revealed the news in a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter. In said chat, he confirmed that not only will Lethal Weapon 5 happen, but that also Mel Gibson and Danny Glover are both primed to return. Furthermore, 89-year old director Richard Donner – who’s helmed the four films to date – is returning for the fifth. It’ll be the first film he’s directed since 2006’s 16 Blocks.

“We’re trying to make the last Lethal Weapon movie”, Lin confirmed. “And Dick Donner’s coming back. The original cast is coming back. And it’s just amazing. The story itself is very personal to him. Mel and Danny are ready to go, so it’s about the script”.

Who’s writing that script is unclear at this stage, but as we find out more about the movie, we’ll let you know. If there’s not a joke in the whole thing about getting too old for this shit, we’d be rather surprised…
