The planned reboot of The Naked Gun is still active, with Liam Neeson and Seth MacFarlane both remaining aboard the project.

It’s been the best part of two years that news broke regarding the latest attempt to bring The Naked Gun series of movies back to the big screen. This time the series in the hands of Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy, Ted, The Orville), and the plan is for Liam Neeson to take on the lead role. Whether that turns out to be that of Lt Frank Drebin remains to be seen.

If you thought that the project had fizzled out though, let us confirm that it hasn’t. This one remains in active development, with Neeson giving a new interview to CinemaBlend where he talked about the current status of the project.

“I know Seth and his team are working on a draft, I’m very excited, and I think and hope Seth might be directing it himself” he said the outlet.

“No date has been set, I think, I believe it’s Paramount Pictures that approached Seth, and Seth approached me. This was about a year and a half ago, maybe two years ago. So it’ll either ruin my career, whatever’s left of it, or I’ll find another little adventure, you know?”

Time will tell there. It’s a brave person who tries to step into the spoofing shoes of the late, great Leslie Nielsen. We’ll bring you more as we hear it.
