The Ultra HD 4K Blu-ray release of Peter Jackson’s The Lord Of The Rings trilogy will just about be with us before Christmas.

Peter Jackson’s Oscar-winning and box office gobbling Lord Of The Rings trilogy of films will be heading to the Ultra HD 4K Blu-ray format this side of Christmas, it now appears. It’s been known for some time that the films were in the process of being prepared for the 4K disc format. However, given how matters had taken hold this year, the expectation was that the films wouldn’t be released until next year, not least because that marks the 20th anniversary of Fellowship Of The Ring.

However, last month the films started popping up with a rumoured December release for the movies, and whilst no official announcement has thus far been made, the trilogy is now expected the second week of December.

Furthermore, there have been one or two listings in Europe that suggested The Hobbit trilogy of films was also going to land this side of Christmas. That feels less definite at the moment, but as we hear more, we’ll let you know.

More details on all of this as we get them.
