The prescient plot of Rich Flu will take place during a fictional pandemic: Macaulay Culkin and Daniel Bruhl will star.

Could there be a more apt title for a film set during lockdown than Home Alone? In fact, this film is set to be called Rich Flu, and Home Alone star Macaulay Culkin has just joined the cast alongside Daniel Bruhl.

Helmed by Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia, whose film The Platform was amongst the most watched original films on Netflix in 2020, Rich Flu will follow the destructive effects of a virus that only affects those above a certain income bracket.

Also starring Gone Girl‘s Rosamund Pike, the film is described as a thriller that examines the extreme lengths people will go to save themselves.

Gaztelu-Urrutia will direct and produce the film, as well as co-write the screenplay with Pedro Rivero and David Desola.

It will begin filming later this year, with a release date yet to be announced.
