Mark Kermode’s Secrets Of Cinema looks like it’s on the way back

It’s looking like the excellent Mark Kermode’s Secrets Of Cinema will be making a return to BBC Four in the near future.

Here’s some nice news to round the week off. It looks like BBC Four is ordering more episodes of the excellent Mark Kermode’s Secrets Of Cinema series.

The news hasn’t been officially confirmed or announced, but Dr Kermode – in time honoured fashion – has dropped and hefty and sizeable hint via his Twitter feed. And going by past form, he doesn’t tend to do that unless there’s some more definite news around the corner.

To give you a clue as to just how subtle he’s being about it. Is it just us that thinks he seems to be hinting too as to what the new episodes will cover?

When we get official confirmation, we’ll pass the news on. What we’ve not heard a whisper of is a second series of the terrific Kermode & Mayo’s Home Entertainment Service, a television spin-off of the Wittertainment radio show on Radio Super Five Alive. The television show was conceived, shot and broadcast during the lockdown period earlier this year. It may be that it remains a one-off due to the circumstances, but hopefully the powers that be will find a few coins in the budget for more.

We’ll keep you posted.
