Following In Bruges and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, writer/director Martin McDonagh’s next film is arriving later this year.

He doesn’t make many films, but when writer/director Martin McDonagh does take a break from theatre to go to a film set, the results tend to be very much worth waiting for. His last film was Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, which attracted Oscars. His first was In Bruges, which remains quite a debut. In between he made Seven Psychopaths, which is not short of moments and Christopher Walken.

Now he’s turned his attention to The Banshees Of Inisherin, that again he’s penned the script for. It’s being made at Fox Searchlight, and is thus a Disney production. The cast features Brendan Gleeson, Colin Farrell, Barry Keoghan and Kerry Condon, and filming wrapped up on the feature last October. It tells the story of two friends, albeit ones whose friendship comes to a very abrupt end.

Disney has now confirmed that, in the US at least, the film is set to get a release this coming autumn. It’s inked in a date of October 21st 2022, and we’d expect that to be reflected on the UK schedules in due course.

More news on the film as we hear it. Very much looking forward to it.
