According to an anonymous source, Marvel is planning a new Disney+ series focused on the character of Korg from the Thor films.

Since 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok Taika Waititi has played the character of Korg. A man made of rocks, he’s been there to provide comic relief throughout Ragnarok, Avengers: Endgame, and the upcoming Thor: Love And Thunder. He also made an appearance in animated form in the Disney+ series What If?

Now, it’s rumoured that Disney is looking to expand on the number of Marvel series available on its streaming service. An anonymous source revealed to Chippu that a show focused on Korg is on the way. Leaning into his traditionally comic role, the series will feature short but humorous episodes, similar to those in the recently-released Baymax! show.

Not only that, the source also states that the upcoming I Am Groot series of shorts has been renewed for a second season ahead of its release on 5th August. The character, voiced by Vin Diesel, made its debut in Guardians Of The Galaxy.

This information hasn’t been officially announced by Disney yet, so could be subject to change. However, it could mark an interesting development in the types of Marvel shows available on Disney+ – with the platform leaning into the comedy genre and investing in shorts almost as much as full-length episodes.

We’ll bring you more news on this as we hear it.
