Marvel will be looking for a quick turnaround on Werewolf By Night, as it aims for a Halloween release.

Whilst we’re not sure it’s strictly a film, Marvel’s Werewolf By Night project has finally entered production after what seems like years of chatter. The production has been labelled as a ‘holiday special’ – although not in the Star Wars sense of the words! – with plans for it to air this Halloween. So whilst it’s not a Disney+ series, we’re not sure whether its length will stretch into feature territory either. Considering how little time Marvel has allowed itself to get the project in front of audiences, we wouldn’t be surprised if Werewolf By Night’s running time ends up being far less ambitious than many were speculating.

We do know that the project will tie in to the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe continuity and is set to release this Halloween, but Covid and other issues have delayed the onset of production. Filming is reportedly now underway in Atlanta, but with just six months until the air date we’re curious to see how Marvel Studios will get the project shot and add all the sizeable amounts of VFX work that will be necessary to complete it before then.

As we know, Marvel tends to need things to release within the right windows to maintain its continuity and with Werewolf by Night sitting as a horror-themed project somewhere between the release of Moon Knight and Blade, the company will no doubt be using all of its resources to ensure it makes that date. Gael Garcia Benal is starring whilst Michael Giacchino the award-winning composer, is set to direct. We’ll bring you more on this one as we hear it.
