Disney+ is resurrecting Turner & Hooch – with the help of the director of Terminator: Salvation.

In a career that’s taken him from Charlie’s Angels to Terminator Salvation to Netflix horror hit The Babysitter, McG has now been announced as the man to steer the upcoming reboot of Turner & Hooch.

Turner & Hooch was one of Tom Hanks’ earlier hits, with the 1989 buddy cop movie pairing him with a slobbering dog. It infamously found itself going up against the film K-9 – starring James Belushi – the same year.

The new take on the story is a Disney+ production, and the Mouse has ordered a 12 episode series based on the original film. McG will be directing the pilot episode of the show, and is also going to be the executive producer of it for its run.

Josh Peck will be taking on the role played by Tom Hanks in the movie. It is unclear at this stage who will be playing the dog.

It’s expected that we’ll see at least the first episode of the show on the Disney+ series this side of Christmas. We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
