Amongst the latest list of the best unmade films in Hollywood at the moment? A biopic of movie director Michael Bay: more here.

If you’re not familiar with the Black List of screenplays, it’s the annual rundown – voted for by lots of people in the film business – of the best unproduced movie scripts on the market. Lots of scripts that appear on the Black List have gone on to become huge successes – Argo went on to win Best Picture at the Oscars – and lots still don’t get made. But getting on the list pretty much guarantees your writing is going to get noticed.

This year’s Black List has been published, and the film on it that’s raised our eyebrows highest is a biopic of crashbangwallop filmmaker Michael Bay. The director of films such as The Rock, Bad Boys and lots of never ending Transformers movies is the subject of Michael Bay: The Explosive Biopic. Penned by Sean Tidwell, it is indeed a script that tells the story of Bay. The logline reads: “Packed with enough C4 to split an asteroid in two, this tell-all Michael Bay origin story reveals the explosions that defined him, the fire that ignited his little heart, and the fate that sealed his Hollywood destiny”.

To our knowledge, nobody has picked the project up as of yet, and it sits on the list next to a film idea from Mike Jones and Nicholas Sherman where Mickey Rourke has to go on the reality TV show The Masked Singer. Films about Kanye West and Donald Trump have also made this year’s list.

This year’s full list can be found here. Some intriguing ideas on there too, and it’s all but certain that quite a few of these will go on to get made in some form…
