The Raid is getting a Hollywood remake, thanks to Netflix, Michael Bay and The Hitman’s Bodyguard’s Patrick Hughes.

Comfortably one of the best and most impactful action movies of the last decade is Gareth Evans’ stunning The Raid. It stars Iko Uwais and it’s hard to get across in words just what a brutal, intense and unforgettable movie it is. Some tend to put off by subtitles. In this case, there aren’t even that many of them. It’s well, well worth taking the plunge.

Still, it’s not stopped Hollywood having a sniff around to try and come up with a subtitles-free version. And, yep, The Raid is now getting the remake treatment. And the man producing it? That’d be someone, no disrespect intended (I love The Rock), who’s far less skilled at bringing action to the screen than Gareth Evans: Michael Bay.

Bay is producer of the film, that’s set to be directed by Patrick Hughes. He’s most recently helmed the likes of The Hitman’s Bodyguard films and The Expendables 3.

Netflix is backing the project, and Evans is involved too as executive producer. The script is being penned by James Beaufort and Patrick Hughes.

All of this information is passed on without further comments. It’s hard to know what else to say.
