A horror-tinged take on the brutal excesses of Henry VIII will see Michelle Williams and Jude Law unite on screen.

Michelle Williams will play Henry VIII’s sixth and final wife, Catherine Barr, in Firebrand, a period horror that will also feature Jude Law as the brutal king known for executing his spouses. The tale will be told from Barr’s narrative perspective as she tries to avoid the same fate that befell two of his previous wives, whilst surviving the machinations of court.

Karim Ainouz will helm the film, based on a script by Killing Eve scribes Jessica Ashworth and Henrietta Ashworth. This one looks like it’s pretty early in development though, so don’t expect to see it anytime soon, no matter how intriguing it sounds.

Law is coming off the back of the excellent psychological drama, The Nest, whilst Williams is soon to play Peggy Lee in the biopic, Fever.

We’ll let you know more about Firebrand as we hear it.
