The sequels to Minions and Sing are pushed back.

Last month, Illumination Entertainment announced a delay to the release of Minions: The Rise Of Gru, not because of cinemas being closed per se, but at that time because the lockdown in France meant it couldn’t physically finish the film. It had been due for release this coming July.

Now, Universal has confirmed that the movie is the latest on its docket – after Fast & Furious 9 – to be put back by an entire year. The sequel will now be arriving in cinemas on July 2nd 2021.

That’s had a knock-on effect for Illumination’s other upcoming sequel, Sing 2. It had previously been set for release in the summer of 2021, and now its release date has moved back too by nearly six months. Sing 2 will now be with us on December 22nd 2021.

More on both films as we hear it.
