MUBI has acquired the rights to Paul Verhoeven’s new film Benedetta.
Premiering in July at Cannes Film Festival, Paul Verhoeven’s Benedetta has been bought for UK distribution by MUBI.
Announced on the streaming sites UK Twitter today, they will be releasing the film in cinemas, as well as exclusively on their streaming platform. No dates have been mentioned yet, but with it competing in Cannes in just a few weeks, expect more announcements then.
Benedetta follow a 17th-century nun in Italy suffers from disturbing religious and erotic visions. She is assisted by a companion, and the relationship between the two women develops into a romantic love affair.
